The last 20% of the book is very exciting but I'm not sure it is worth the buildup. So yes, author has totally lost the plot with this one. Oh, and it's all almost laughably USA-centric. When we do finally get back to space battles, I found it strangely unsatisfying, it leaves the main plot a bit unresolved and. There is no book 4. It could even have wrapped things up trilogy style, it could have been fun. It doesn't advance the main plot, at all, and if the time taken had been given to the main plot, then this book could have moved forward into really interesting territory. Seriously, it just goes on and on and on and. Ok, fine, I don't really care about PC thinking, I wasn't offended, I was just bored. Unfortunately most this book is an attack on South American culture and one sided multiculturalism, saying how we are supposed to understand them but oh, they are the ones who would be better off adopting our way of thinking. I love the ideas and the whole popcorn sci fi, massive super weapons, giant space battles thing.
